As Cloud & Infrastructure Manager I am responsible for the architecture, deployment and support of all GMI’s IT infrastructure both on-premises and Cloud based. This is a hands-on technical management role and I lead a team of specialist engineers in DevOps, security and IT infrastructure.

Consultancy projects including network analysis and diagnostics, DR and data recovery, virtualisation/VMWare ESX, Xen, Novell and Linux consultancy (CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu).
Responsible for managing a team of engineers (Helpdesk and IT Support Team) supporting IT systems across the five BMS sites in a Windows, Novell and Cisco network environment. Also responsible for all change control, SOPs and documentation of IT systems for BMS Ireland.
In 2005, became Acting IT Operations Manager responsible for the delivery of all IT infrastructure for the company’s bulk manufacturing facility in Cruiserath. Included qualification and validation of IT and network systems in a regulated environment.
Designed and implemented the Novell NetWare network and print services for Xerox Ireland to support over 3,000 users. Developed the Xerox Ireland Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan for Novell. Also for EDS, worked onsite at Xerox Dundalk and FLS Aerospace (Dublin Airport) on their ArcServe Enterprise backup solution for Novell.
Technical training included Cloud Solutions Architect training (Amazon), extensive training on AWS Cloud products, RedHat RHCE, Cisco CCNA part 1&2 Official Training, TCP/IP Networking, Microsoft Core Technologies, NT4 Advanced Server, Windows 2003/2000 Server, MS Exchange 5.5, Novell NetWare, Lotus Notes/Domino administration.
Management courses included Project Management, Change Control Management, SOP Authoring, Making Great Hiring Decisions.
I have over 20 years experience in IT infrastructure architecture at an Enterprise level. My many years experience working in traditional data centre environments with physical servers and bare metal infrastructure is hugely valuable in architecting for the Cloud. I understand the concerns about security, performance and reliability that IT managers have because I have worn that hat. This makes me ideally suited to working on projects where the client is migrating their bricks & mortar infrastructure to the Cloud.
